CREATING MOOCS USING COURSE BUILDER»

On December 5, 2024, an online webinar was held on the creation of massive open online courses (MOOCs) using the Course Builder tool. The webinar was organized by BMG UpSkill and brought together representatives of 93 universities in Kazakhstan. Webinar participants learned about modern practices for creating and integrating MOOCs into the educational process, as well as new features of the Coursera platform for developing educational programs. Participants received detailed information about the goals and objectives of the event, as well as how modern tools such as Course Builder can improve the process of creating online courses and integrating them into the educational activities of universities. The main part of the webinar was a presentation on the new features of Course Builder based on artificial intelligence. The speaker, Vera Ignatyeva from Coursera, spoke in detail about the integration of content from other courses, interactive learning with Coursera Coach, support in creating courses, and international experience. After the presentation of the new Course Builder features, the experience of MOOC authors was broadcast, two case studies of course creation presented by universities in Kazakhstan were shown: Cases "Zhasushaga Sayakhat", "Research Fundamentals". - Particular attention was paid to the introduction of artificial intelligence in the course development process. AI helps not only in creating content, but also in analytics, recommendations for students and improving the quality of educational materials. The use of AI makes learning more personalized and accessible. One of the most interesting moments of the webinar was the participants' acquaintance with the Coursera Coach pilot project. This tool provides students with support in the learning process, including interactive tips, explanations and real-time help. The webinar demonstrated how the new tool helps learners better perceive the material and increase their engagement in courses. At the end of the webinar, the participants discussed key points regarding the creation of online courses, exchanged experiences and asked questions to the speakers. The importance of using new technologies, such as Course Builder and Coursera Coach, in the educational process to improve the quality and accessibility of training was emphasized. To summarize, we can say that the webinar became a useful platform for exchanging experiences and getting acquainted with innovations in the field of creating MOOCs. All participants received valuable knowledge on how to effectively use new tools and integrate them into the teaching process.
