On December 12 of this year, the Department of Finance, Accounting and Management of A. Myrzakhmetov Kokshetau University held another guest lecture on the topic of "Financial pyramid and fraudulent schemes in Kazakhstan", which was conducted by E.S. Bilyalov, an operative officer for the Department of Internal Affairs of the Department of Economic Investigations of the Akmola Region. The lecture was attended by students of the 1st to 3rd years of the educational programs "Finance", "Accounting and Audit". Erlan Serikovich, having many years of experience in the field of economic investigation, shared useful information on how to recognize and avoid fraudulent schemes. Noting the relevance of the topic, he said that in Kazakhstan in recent years the number of financial pyramids and fraudulent schemes has been growing. He also discussed with the students the reasons why such schemes resonate with citizens: insufficient financial literacy, gullibility, and the desire to get rich quickly. The students discussed with the lecturer the main signs of a pyramid, fraudulent schemes in Kazakhstan, and several cases of fraudulent actions. At the end of the lecture, the operative officer gave recommendations to the students how to protect themselves from a financial pyramid and how to avoid fraud in the financial sector.
