On March 4, 2021, the faculty of the "Finance" department took part in the international MERI webinar on the topic "Modernization of education: from vision to reality".
The speakers were: Ekaterina Tsaranok, director of the Modern Education & Research Institute and Aislu Tasimova, a member of MERI (West Kazakhstan University of Innovation and Technology).
The webinar participants discussed such issues as fulfilling their key functions: teaching and learning, conducting research, generating innovations, preserving cultural values, academic freedom with an increasing dependence on external sources of funding, the role of leadership in the university of the future. It is important to note that the meeting also discussed the need for "niche" approach or multidisciplinary universities, whether an academic career should depend on bibliometric indicators, how to make the teaching profession attractive in terms of life choices.
The lecture was informative as it contained important information about innovations in education. We are grateful to the organizers for the urgency of the problems discussed.
